Location & Travel

The conference location is the John McIntyre Conference Centre, situated within the Pollock Halls Campus of the University of Edinburgh, approximately 1 mile away from the city centre, and nestling at the foot of Arthur's Seat.  Edinburgh is well-served by a variety of transport services.

John McIntyre Conference Centre

All talks, posters and exhibitions will take place at the conference centre, on the first floor of the building.  It is fully wheelchair accessible, and free wifi is provided.  For nearby accomodation information, please visit our dedicated page.

Travel by air

Edinburgh International Airport is located on the western outskirts of the city, about 8 miles from the city centre.  Transport links from the airport to the city centre are available by bus, tram or taxi:

  • Airlink 100 Bus/Coach:  30 minutes ride, direct to Waverley Bridge in city centre.  Service runs every 10 minutes at peak times.  £4.50 single, £7.50 return.  Pre-book tickets online.
  • Tram:  35 minute journey to city centre.  Approximate cost £5.  Tickets purchased from self-service machines at tram station.
  • Taxi:  20 minute journey to city centre.  Can be pre-booked or picked up from the taxi rank, located opposite the terminal building within the multi-storey car park.

Glasgow Airport also offers additional flight options, and is about an hour away by car (1.5 to 2 hours by public transport) from Edinburgh city centre.  Please check the airport website for onward travel options from Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh city centre.

Travel by train

Edinburgh Waverley rail station is located in the city centre of Edinburgh, with excellent links to the rest of the UK.  The station is just 1 mile from the conference centre (a taxi rank is available within the station concourse if you don't fancy the walk).  For UK train schedules and bookings, try National Rail Enquiries.

Travel by car

Parking permits are required to park at the Pollock Halls campus.  If you require a permit, please enquire about this when booking accomodation at University-owned accommodation through Edinburgh First.
